This Christian-based program seeks to guide young, African-American males into manhood.

Boys Rites of Passage is a Jesus Christ centered mentoring program. The program seeks to assist boys in acquiring the ability to demonstrate the three principles of the program — Discipline, Respect, and Reverence — and to understand the Seven Levels of Human Development: Etiquette, Faith, Family, Heritage, Resource Control, Skill, and Survival. Ways to Serve: Mentors: Both male and female leaders in our families and communities Educators: Community members willing to serve in the educational process Investors: Community members willing to give resources Administrators: Community members willing to steward our system(s) Requirements to Serve: Church Membership: Must be a member of Wheeler Avenue for at least six months. If you are not yet at the six-month mark, we encourage you to check back in a little later—we’ll be here and excited to welcome you! Youth Protection Training: Must complete one of our mandatory trainings, conducted twice a month via Zoom. Please plan to attend with your camera on, as participation is required throughout the session. We begin promptly at 7 pm. Entry will not be allowed after a certain point in the training. Background Check: An annual federal and state background check is required. The link to complete this will be sent after attending the youth protection training. Heart for Ministry: Most importantly, volunteers must be ready and willing to greet every youth at Wheeler Avenue with a warm smile and a heart full of God’s love!
