About this policy
Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church ("Wheeler," "we," "us," or "our") values the trust you place in our ministry. This policy explains how information is handled when you use wheelerbc.org, the Wheeler Avenue BC mobile app, or connected digital services that refer to this policy.
It also describes information you choose to share with us through digital ministry forms, event registration, prayer requests, giving links, and related communications. A separate notice provided for a particular program may explain additional practices for that program. Independent websites and services have their own privacy policies.
Information you share and information collected automatically
The information involved depends on the features you use. You can browse much of our public content without creating an account. Forms and account features may ask for your name, email address, telephone number, mailing address, household details, preferences, or other information relevant to the service you request.
We may receive event registration details, ministry interests, requests for care, prayer messages, correspondence, and information you choose to enter in our website chat. These messages can reveal sensitive information about your faith, health, family, or personal circumstances. Please share only what is needed and avoid including another person's private information without permission.
Bible features may store notes, highlights, saved plans, reading activity, and preferences on your device. When you use account synchronization, Bible notes and reading records may also be sent to and stored by the account service so they can be available across your devices.
Our website, app, and service providers may receive technical information such as an IP address, browser or device type, operating system, referring page, pages or features used, request times, and error or performance information. Security checks may also process technical signals to detect automated submissions and abuse.
How information supports the ministry
We use information to respond to requests, connect people with church ministries, administer events and registrations, maintain accounts, provide Bible features, and send confirmations or other communications related to services you use. Information may also support donation and transaction records, church administration, and follow-up you request.
Technical and usage information helps us operate the website and app, understand which content is useful, diagnose problems, improve accessibility and performance, and protect our services from fraud or misuse. We may also use records to meet applicable obligations, resolve disputes, or protect the church and the people we serve.
Prayer requests and public sharing
Our prayer form offers separate choices for a private request and an anonymous public post. A request marked private is directed to the prayer team rather than the public prayer wall. Public requests are reviewed before approved posts appear on the wall. Choosing an anonymous post hides your name on the public wall; it does not automatically make details in your message anonymous.
Information published on a prayer wall or another public area can be read, copied, or shared by others. Avoid including addresses, telephone numbers, medical details, or identifying information that you do not want made public. Contact us if you need help with a request you have submitted. Removing a public post cannot recall copies already made by other people or services.
Private requests still need to be processed by the church and the providers that operate our forms and communications. Please contact the church directly about especially sensitive pastoral matters rather than placing those details in a public post or website chat.
People and services that may receive information
Church staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers may receive information relevant to responding to your request or administering the ministry activity you choose. Technology and professional service providers may also process information while supporting our website, app, accounts, forms, communications, hosting, security, analytics, or transactions.
Our digital services include Nurture Hubs for connected forms and Bible/account services, WorkOS for account sign-in, Sanity for website content, and Vercel for hosting and website performance tools. The website also uses Chatbase for chat and may use Sentry for error monitoring and Cloudflare Turnstile for form security. The information a provider receives depends on the feature you use and its technical role.
We may share information when you direct us to do so, when needed to provide a service you request, or when disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to address fraud, a security incident, or a threat to someone's safety. Public posts are shared according to the visibility choices described above.
Giving, purchases, and outside websites
Online giving links take you to a payment service such as Pushpay. Shopping, registrations, video players, maps, social media, and other linked services may also be operated by outside organizations. Payment information entered on those services is handled by the relevant provider; the church may receive the donor or purchaser details, amount, transaction status, and records needed to administer the gift or purchase.
Embedded content, including video and website chat, can connect your browser to an outside provider when it loads or when you interact with it. Those providers may collect technical or usage information under their own policies. Review their privacy notices before providing information. Please do not send payment-card numbers or account passwords through ordinary email, prayer forms, or chat.
Mobile app permissions and choices
Where offered, notifications and event reminders depend on your device settings and permissions. You can turn them off in your phone's settings. Optional location-based arrival reminders, if available in an app version, require location permission. You can decline or revoke that permission in device settings.
Signing out does not delete your church account or information already stored by a connected service. Uninstalling the app does not itself request deletion of server records, and unsynchronized information on your device may be lost. Contact us using the details below to request account or personal-information deletion.
Children and family information
Parents and guardians should supervise children's use of our digital services and complete registrations or requests involving a child. Please avoid posting a child's identifying or sensitive information in public areas. Specific children's and youth programs may provide additional registration, consent, and safeguarding notices.
If you believe a child has submitted personal information without appropriate parental involvement, contact us so we can review the situation and address the information concerned.
Storage, retention, and security
Information may be processed in the United States and in other locations where our service providers operate. Privacy protections can differ by location. We use access controls and other safeguards to help protect information, but no internet service or storage system can guarantee complete security. Keep your account credentials and devices secure.
The time information is retained depends on its purpose, the service used, and applicable recordkeeping obligations. Account, ministry, and transaction records may need to remain available for administration, financial recordkeeping, security, or resolving a dispute. Some information may remain in backups or records that must be retained even after a deletion request. Ask us about the records involved in your request rather than assuming that uninstalling an app removes them.
Your choices and privacy requests
You may choose not to provide optional information, although some services cannot be completed without the requested details. Use an unsubscribe option in an email, when provided, or contact the church to ask about communication preferences. Essential confirmations and responses related to a service you request may be handled separately from general updates.
To request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information or a digital account, email info@wheelerbc.org with the subject "Privacy Request." Tell us which service or account is involved and the change you are requesting. Do not include passwords, payment details, or identity documents in your first message. We may need to verify your identity or authority before acting on a request.
Available rights and exceptions depend on applicable law and the records involved. We will review your request and explain any information needed to address it or any relevant limits on deletion. Requests involving an independent giving, shopping, or other service may also need to be directed to that provider.
Policy updates
We may revise this policy as our services or practices change. The date at the top identifies the latest revision. Updated wording will be posted on this page; additional notice or consent will be provided when required. Please check this page when you have questions about a new feature or how your information is handled.
